Your journey with the ISC

Since 1969, the St. Gallen Symposium has been the leading global initiative for cross-generational dialogue. As a member of the International Students’ Committee (ISC), you’ll join a team of 30 highly motivated students committed to connecting different generations through meaningful conversations. By giving our generation a voice, we contribute to positive change in the world and uphold a legacy of over 50 years.

Being part of the ISC is more than a role — it’s a unique learning experience where you invest in your future, develop invaluable skills, and make lasting connections. Be a part of the tradition. Be a part of change.

The ISC Experience – What to Expect

Working in the International Students’ Committee is a fast track to professional growth. Whether you are in marketing, IT or sales, you take ownership of real, high-stakes projects that deliver results and stand out on any CV. You build hard skills in project management, , communication, stakeholder management and execution under pressure. On top of that, you gain access to a global network of CEOs, board members and over 1,000 alumni. Many ISC members secure internships, mentorships or full-time jobs through the connections and visibility they gain during the year.

The ISC year challenges you in ways few other experiences do. You take full responsibility for complex projects and learn how much you are actually capable of. You build confidence, grow your resilience and develop the ability to perform under pressure. At the same time, you gain deep experience in people skills and community management. You learn how to lead, how to handle conflict and how to build trust in a team. The personal growth you gain during this year stays with you long after the work is done.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you join the International Students’ Committee for the full year, you will receive 12 Campus Credits. For a half-year commitment, you will receive 8. These credits count towards the skills area. In addition, all ISC members are eligible for an exclusive course, which is worth 8 graded credits and counts towards the electives area.

How is the year structured?
The ISC year is divided into two main phases.

From September to February, you are in the Markets Phase. During this time, the Sales Team travels globally to meet existing partners, renew contracts and establish new partnerships. At the same time, the Leaders of Tomorrow Team visits universities across America, Europe and Asia to promote the Global Essay Competition and identify outstanding young talents who may be invited to the St. Gallen Symposium.

From February to June, the focus shifts to the Organisation Phase. In this part of the year, the structure of the teams changes and the work becomes more operational. You plan and execute the St. Gallen Symposium, managing everything from logistics and guest handling to content and event production.

Yes, absolutely. Every second you invest pays off. You and your team build something unique and meaningful, and you leave your personal mark on it. You learn to collaborate under pressure, navigate challenges and deliver results when it matters. You grow your professional network and gain skills that most people only develop years into their careers. The International Students’ Committee gives you a head start – both personally and professionally.
