Karin Keller-Sutter

Karin Keller-Sutter assumed the role of Head of the Federal Department of Finance in Switzerland in 2023. Her political career began in 1992, and she joined the cantonal government of St. Gallen in 2000, where she led the Justice and Security Department. In 2011, Ms Keller-Sutter was elected to the Council of States, and she held the presidency of the Council in 2017/2018, before she was elected to the Federal Council in 2018. Prior to her current position, she served as the Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police from 2019 to 2022. Prior to her election to the Federal Council, Ms Keller-Sutter was involved in various board memberships, including positions at Bâloise Insurance Group, the Swiss Employers Association, and the NZZ Media Group. She also served as a member of the board of trustees at the St. Gallen Foundation for International Studies until 2018.
