Gerald Butts

Gerald Butts is the Vice Chairman and a Senior Advisor of the Eurasia Group. Prior to his current position, he served as Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of Canada, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, from 2015 to 2019, where he was responsible for providing executive direction on the Canadian government's agenda. From 1999 to 2008, Mr Butts served as Policy Secretary and Principal Secretary to the Premier of Ontario and from 2008 to 2012 as CEO of WWF Canada, where he was responsible for global projects to decarbonise the supply chains of multinational companies. He now serves on the global board of directors for the World Wildlife Fund. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from McGill University.
