Daniel Gerlach

Daniel Gerlach is Editor-in-Chief of zenith magazine and Director General of the Candid Foundation, a Berlin-based think-and-do tank promoting dialogue and projects across the Middle East and North Africa. He co-founded zenith in 1999, the publishing house Deutscher Levante Verlag in 2008, and the consulting group ZENITH COUNCIL in 2013. A historian and journalist by training, he has written for FAZ, Die Welt, Spiegel Online and brand eins, and directed documentaries on Middle Eastern affairs. Gerlach studied History and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Hamburg and the Sorbonne (Paris IV), earning a Magister Artium and a Licence d’histoire.
