Prof. Lars Feld

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Lars P. Feld has been Director of the Walter Eucken Institute and holds the Chair of Economic Policy and Ordinal Economics at the University of Freiburg since 2010. His research focuses on economic policy, public finance, new political economy, and the economic analysis of law. Before that, he studied economics at the University of Saarland, earned his doctorate in 1999 and his habilitation in 2002 at the University of St. Gallen, and held professorships in Marburg and Heidelberg. In 2017 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Lucerne and was awarded the Gustav-Stolper Prize in 2021. Since 2003 he has served on the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Federal Ministry of Finance and has contributed to several government commissions on fiscal and financial reform.
