Florence Gaub

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Florence Gaub is the Director of the Research Division at the NATO Defense College in Rome. Prior to this, she held several high-profile positions, including Deputy Director at the EU Institute for Security Studies, Foresight Advisor at the EU Council, and Special Advisor to EU Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič. With a focus on strategic foresight and geopolitical trends, Ms Gaub has significantly contributed to understanding future challenges and long-term global developments. She began her career at NATO’s Middle East Faculty in 2009, and her work encompasses conflict zones in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as institutional change and geopolitical analysis. Her publications include the bestseller Zukunft: Eine Bedienungsanleitung (2023). In addition to her current role, she serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Complex Risks and is a member of the World Science Fiction Society. Ms Gaub holds a PhD from Humboldt University and degrees from Sciences Po Paris, the Sorbonne, and the University of Munich.
