Prof. Peter Vogel

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Prof. Peter Vogel is a Professor of Family Business and Entrepreneurship at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), leading their work in this field as Director of the IMD Global Family Business Center and Debiopharm Chair of Family Philanthropy. The center is dedicated to help enterprising families ensure family unity and business success across generations while also having a positive impact on society. Furthermore, Prof. Vogel is the Director of the IMD Global Family Business Award, which recognises excellence in building and managing successful, sustainable, and well-governed family-owned enterprises. His co-authored book, Family Philanthropy Navigator, was honoured with an Axiom Business Book Awards Silver Medal in 2021. Before joining IMD in 2017, Prof. Vogel served as Director of Custom Programs and Business Development at the Executive School of the University of St.Gallen. He was previously Assistant Professor of Technology Entrepreneurship at the University of St.Gallen, as well as Managing Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship. Prof. Vogel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from ETH Zurich. He earned his PhD in Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
