Gerard Barron has served as CEO and Chairman of The Metals Company (formerly DeepGreen Metals) since 2017. The company specialises in the collection of polymetallic nodules from the seafloor, which house metals crucial for batteries and the global energy transition. Furthermore, The Metals Company is dedicated to establishing a circular resource economy, minimising the need for mining virgin ores by implementing the recovery and reuse of the same metal atoms for extended periods. Mr Barron is a seasoned entrepreneur having established global companies in battery technology, media, and future-oriented resource development, both as a chief executive and strategic investor. Mr Barron holds a Business degree from the University of Southern Queensland.
