Patrick Rapp

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Patrick Rapp is the State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg, a position he has held since May 12, 2021. He also serves as a member of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg, having been first elected in 2011 and re-elected in 2016 and 2021. Previously, Dr Rapp held key leadership roles, including Chairman of the Rural Areas and Consumer Protection Working Group and Tourism Policy Speaker for the CDU state parliamentary group. Before his political career, he worked as a management assistant to the executive board in the food industry and as a personnel manager in the timber industry. In addition to his governmental duties, Dr Rapp is a member of the Tourism Advisory Board of Baden-Württemberg, serves on the advisory board of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, and is the honorary president of the Confederation of German Brass Instrument Associations in Staufen. Dr Rapp holds a degree in forestry science from the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, where he also completed his doctorate at the Institute for Forestry Policy.
