Péter Szijjártó

Péter Szijjártó has served as the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade since September 2014, following his initial appointment as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade in June 2014. As a dedicated member of the national-conservative party Fidesz, Minister Szijjártó also served as a member of the Hungarian National Assembly for five sessions, spanning from 2002 to 2022. Before assuming his ministerial roles, Minister Szijjártó held significant positions within both the Hungarian government and Fidesz. Notably, from 2012 to 2014, he served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations at the Prime Minister’s Office. Additionally, he was the Prime Minister’s Spokesperson from 2010 to 2012 and Fidesz Communications Director from 2006 to 2010. Péter Szijjártó holds a degree in Foreign Affairs from Corvinus University of Budapest.
