Lars-Hendrik Röller

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Lars-Hendrik Röller is Founder and Chair of the Berlin Global Dialogue and Professor of Economics at ESMT Berlin. He previously served as Chief Economic Advisor to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel and as Germany’s Sherpa for the G7 and G20, preparing and shaping 17 international summits. Prior to this, he was the Chief Competition Economist at the European Commission and held academic positions at INSEAD, Humboldt University Berlin, and Stanford University, among others. In addition, he serves on multiple advisory boards, including roles in climate finance and geopolitical advisory, and co-founded the consultancy E.CA Economics. He is a Fellow of the European Economic Association and a Distinguished Fellow of CEPR, and has received several international honors, including the Gossen Prize and multiple national orders of merit. Röller holds a PhD in Economics as well as master’s degrees in Economics and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M University.
