Elizabeth Churchill

Dr. Elizabeth F. Churchill is Professor and founding Department Chair of Human-Computer Interaction at MBZUAI (Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She was formerly Senior Director of User Experience at Google, where she built and led research teams after leadership roles at eBay, Yahoo, PARC and FujiXerox. She is an ACM Fellow, member of the CHI Academy, and an ACM Distinguished Speaker, with a background spanning psychology, artificial intelligence and cognitive science. She has held top elected offices in the Association for Computing Machinery, including Executive Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer, and currently co-edits ACM’s interactions magazine. Her honors include the CITRIS Athena Executive Leadership Award (2016), the SIGCHI Lifetime Service Award (2023) and the SIGCHI Lifetime Practice Award (2024). She earned a PhD from the University of Cambridge and holds honorary doctorates from the Universities of Sussex and Stockholm.
