Thomas Süssli

Thomas Süssli has been Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces (CdA) since January 2020, responsible for leading the army and overseeing key commands, including the Armed Forces Staff, Joint Operations Command, Armed Forces Logistics Organisation, Cyber Command, and Training and Education Command. Immediately prior, he served as Major General of the Armed Forces Command Support Organisation from January 2018 to December 2019, and as Brigadier General, Commander of Logistics Brigade 1 from September 2015 to December 2017. Before his military leadership roles, Mr Süssli gained extensive experience in the financial sector. Between 2014 and 2015, he was the CEO of Vontobel Financial Products (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd. Additionally, he previously served as Head of Investment Advisory International in the Global External Asset Managers division of Credit Suisse and Head of Processing Management in the Transaction Banking division of Vontobel. Earlier in his career, he was COO and Head of Product Management at IFBS AG and held various positions at UBS in Basel, Zurich, and London. Mr Süssli holds an Executive MBA from the University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Economics (HTW) and is a Swiss certified expert in IT with a federal diploma.
