Prof. Claudia Franziska Brühwiler

Claudia Franziska Brühwiler is a Professor of American Political Thought and Culture at the University of St.Gallen. Her research interests encompass a broad range of topics with a particular focus on American conservative and libertarian thought as well as on the interplay of politics, literature, and popular culture. In addition to her current position and previous roles at the University of St. Gallen, Prof. Brühwiler was also a Visiting Professor at Keio University in 2016 and a Visiting Fellow at the Clinton Institute for American Studies at University College Dublin in 2015. Prof. Brühwiler holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in International Affairs and Governance, a doctorate, summa cum laude, in Political Science, and a venia legendi (PD; Privatdozentin) in American Studies from the University of St.Gallen. For her PhD dissertation, Prof. Brühwiler was awarded the Dr. Rudolf Mäder Prize for the best doctorate in law and political science of 2010 at the University of St.Gallen.
