Prof. Christoph Frei
Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium
Prof. Christoph Frei has served as an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of St.Gallen since 2007. At the same institution, he received the first Credit Suisse Student Award for Best Teaching ever conferred. One of his key scholarly contributions is an intellectual biography of German-Jewish emigré Hans J. Morgenthau, a founding father of the ‘Realist’ school of International Relations in the United States. Current research interests and publications cover the history of political ideas, the theory of international relations, and the impact of digitisation on modern statehood. Prior to his current work with the University of St.Gallen, Prof. Frei has kept moving between academia and the private sector. His research experience includes extended stints in the United States (1988-1990), in France (1995-2002) and in Hungary (2003-2006). Between 2009 and 2018 he was the Programme Director of the Bachelor of International Affairs and Master of International Affairs Programme.
