Carsten Spohr

Carsten Spohr has served as the CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG since 2014, the second-largest airline in Europe in terms of passengers carried and one of the five founding members of Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance. Mr Spohr leads the Lufthansa Group with around 108,000 employees worldwide. Before assuming his current position as CEO, he held the role of a member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Chairman of the Lufthansa Passage Executive Board starting in 2011. Mr Spohr holds a degree in industrial engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and is a licensed Lufthansa Captain for the Airbus A320 family air-craft types.
