Toby Thorpe

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Toby Thorpe was elected as the youngest Deputy Mayor in Tasmania for the Huon Valley Council in November 2022. He is a passionate advocate for youth empowerment and climate action. As Community Engagement Manager for RE-Alliance in Tasmania, he believes young Australians have a unique opportunity to lead sustainability projects that benefit the environment and their communities. Toby has organised and participated in various sustainability and youth empowerment initiatives. As a Programme Manager for Greening Australia from 2021 to 2022, he empowered young Tasmanians to take action on climate change and sustainable development. Toby's international experience includes serving as a TAS Youth Delegate for COP24 in Poland and COP26 in Scotland, which further fueled his passion for climate action at the local and global levels. Aside from his work in sustainability and climate action, Toby has also served as a Youth Ambassador for the Mental Health Foundation Australia and a Public Education Ambassador for the Department of Education, Tasmania.
