Prof. Xue Lan

Xue Lan is an esteemed scholar who currently serves as the Cheung Kong Chair Distinguished Professor and Dean of Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University. He was previously the Dean of the School of Public Policy and Management at Tsinghua University from 2008 to 2018. Xue Lan is highly regarded for his expertise in public policy analysis, science and technology policy, crisis management, and global governance, and has published extensively on these topics. In addition to his academic work, Xue Lan has played a prominent role in Chinese government and international organizations. Among other roles, he is currently the Chair of the National Expert Committee on AI Governance, and a member of the National Committee for Strategic Consultation and Comprehensive Review. He also sits on the Advisory Group of STI Directory of OECD and serves as a Co-Chair of the Leadership Council of the UN Sustainable Development Solution Network (UNSDSN). Xue Lan has been recognized with numerous awards for his contributions to the field of public policy, including the Fudan Distinguished Contribution Award for Management Science and the Distinguished Contribution Award from the Chinese Association of Science of Science and S&T Policy. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, has also taught at George Washington University, and is an adjunct professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
