Guy Parmelin

Guy Parmelin is a Member of the Swiss Federal Council and has served as Head of the Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research since 2019. Parmelin also served as President of the Swiss Confederation in 2021 and Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation in 2020. Before assuming his current role, Guy Parmelin was Head of the Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports between 2016 and 2018. First elected to the Swiss Federal Council in 2016, he previously served as a Member of the Swiss National Council from 2003 to 2015 for the canton of Vaud. Originally from Bursins, Vaud, outside of politics and government, Mr. Parmelin is a master farmer and winemaker.
