Securing enough capital to finance investments in is key to master these intersecting change processes. In light of a shifting regulatory framework, pressure to show progress on ESG and high interest rates, this is a formidable challenge. What role does the financial sector play in enabling the future-oriented transformation of companies? What concrete approaches are there to support the economy in its transformation effort and how are the associated risks seen by banks, pension funds and asset managers?

Intergenerational Leadership in the Boardroom

As businesses face both acute short-term issues and critical long-term challenges, their leaders need to balance the impacts of decisions across multiple timescales. Achieving this may be complicated by the significant rise in CEOs' average age over the past two decades. Balancing experience and curiosity can help businesses tackle challenges and improve their competitive edge by fostering renewal. This session explores the potential and practicalities of embracing intergenerational leadership for age diversity in corporate leadership. We'll discuss practical strategies for businesses to leverage experienced and emerging leaders, fostering forward-thinking, inclusive governance.

Democracy as a competition of ideas hinges on citizens’ free access to information to form opinions. A vibrant media and information environment is therefore fundamental for liberal, open societies. In the 21st century, the democratization of the public sphere and vast availability of information has had many benefits, but has also driven fragmentation and disinformation. How can liberal societies strike a balance between freedom of information and its truthfulness? What should legacy media evolve their mandate and offering in the current environment?
