All Online Together: Leaders of Tomorrow Day Report

During the challenging times we are going through, it is more than ever necessary to create and strengthen spaces for conversation, discussions and relationships in order to think about possible solutions to as many problems and needs as possible. In a world faced with many social and health crises, we must start to build a post-pandemic world.

I had the opportunity to participate as “Leader of Tomorrow” at the 50th St. Gallen Symposium, representing Paraguay and Latin America. It is an exceptional, impressive and unique space, where ideas, proposals and dialogue with young leaders from all corners of the globe are possible in one place, on a single global platform.

The “Leaders of Tomorrow Day” was an innovative and challenging experience. I had the opportunity to share the day with a group of young leaders, coordinated and accompanied by the organizing team and partners. As a group, we were asked to provide ideas, generating debate and creative thinking about possible solutions to a question or problem that affects us personally while thinking globally. It was definitely an enriching and productive experience. We achieved an impressive result in just… hours. Can you imagine if LoT Day was a week?

The LoT Day made teamwork possible. I learned a lot by listening and paying attention to the contributions of each member of the group. In a joint and collaborative way, we worked on proposals to increase trust in public institutions, leaders, experts and the press when it comes to managing of the pandemic, implementing technology or containment strategies. The proposals were related to the main topic of the symposium: Trust Matters.

Despite different locations, time zones and cultures, we were able to talk together and collaborate on specific topics. We connected at the same time, all with a common goal: to develop possible solutions as a team. LoT Day is a perfect example of how leaders and experts must cope with challenging situations in their countries and globally, putting in time, resources and, above all, bringing a true interest in the public welfare to the table.

This intergenerational and global experience, unforgettable and highly recommended, shows us that it is possible to converge on common themes, building collaboratively. The 50th St. Gallen Symposium developed an innovative format, uniting Leaders of Tomorrow and Leaders of Today in a single virtual platform.
