Leonhard Birnbaum

Leonhard Birnbaum has been CEO of E.ON since 2021, is Chairman of the Board of Management, and has been a Member of the Board of Management since 2013. From 2018-2021, he was responsible for the innogy integration project and served as Chairman of the Board of Management of innogy from 2019-2020. Mr. Birnbaum also holds several leadership positions in the energy sector, including President of Eurelectric, the European Electricity Association, Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Vice Chair of the World Energy Council, and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of German Industries (BDI). Before joining E.ON in 2013, he was a Member of the Board of Management at RWE AG from 2008 to 2013. Prior, Mr. Birnbaum spent 12 years with McKinsey & Company, where he was a Senior Partner for the energy and industrial sector from 2006 to 2008. Leonhard Birnbaum holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cottbus.
