Prof. Karl Schmedders

Prof. Karl Schmedders has been Professor of Finance at IMD Business School since 2019. In this role, he focuses on climate finance, sustainability, and the economic implications of the transition to a low-carbon economy, advising firms on transition risks, asset valuation, and carbon pricing. Previously, he was Professor of Quantitative Business Administration at the University of Zurich and held academic positions at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. In addition, he serves on the boards of LPX Group and SYLVA AG and is a fellow of the Game Theory Society and SAET. He has received multiple teaching awards and published in leading journals such as Econometrica and the Journal of Finance. Schmedders holds a PhD in Operations Research from Stanford University.
