Prof. Rüdiger Bachmann

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Prof. Rüdiger Bachmann is Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan’s Department of Economics. In his role, he conducts research and teaches courses in macroeconomics, focusing on heterogeneous agents, uncertainty, and expectation formation. Previously, he held professorships at Notre Dame, Goethe University / SAFE in Frankfurt, RWTH Aachen, and was Assistant Professor at Michigan. Bachmann is also a member of the editorial board of Perspektiven der Wirtschaftspolitik and is a member of the macroeconomics committee of the German Economic Association. He has advised the German federal government and members of parliament on a number of occasions. He earned undergraduate degrees in Economics and Philosophy from Mainz University and obtained his PhD in Economics from Yale University.
