Lara Gervaise

Lara Gervaise is Co-Founder of Virtuosis AI, a company she founded in 2020 following her thesis at EPFL. Virtuosis AI is an EPFL spin-off developing voice biomarker technology to turn short audio recordings into actionable health insights. In her role, she leads the development of clinically validated AI models capable of assessing up to 25 mental, cognitive, respiratory and cardio-metabolic conditions from a 30-second recording. Prior to this, she gained experience in research and industry, including roles at Idiap Research Institute, BlackRock and Twist Bioscience, and was a former professional athlete. Beyond her operational work, she advocates for fair, explainable and responsible AI in healthcare. Her work has been widely recognized, with Virtuosis AI named Microsoft Startup of the Year 2023 and her selection among the top 100 French AI talents by President Emmanuel Macron. Gervaise holds a Master’s degree in Robotics and Data Science from EPFL, completed a research project at MIT, and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Microengineering from EPFL.
