Sungjoo Kim is Chairperson of MCM Holding AG, a position she has held since 2005, and Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of the Sungjoo Group, which she founded in 1990. Sungjoo Group is recognized as a leader in the Korean fashion industry and has launched and developed major global brands before acquiring the German luxury house MCM. In her current roles, she shapes long-term brand strategy, global expansion, and creative vision across luxury and lifestyle businesses. Previously, she also served as President of the Korean Red Cross and was the first female entrepreneur appointed to ABAC, representing Korea at APEC. Beyond her business leadership, she is deeply engaged in philanthropy and serves on boards and advisory bodies including Asia House, the Global Summit of Women, the Sungjoo Foundation, and the Fashion Council Germany. Her distinctions include an Honorary OBE, the Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, and multiple global leadership awards. Sungjoo Kim holds an MSc in International Relations from London School of Economics and Political Science and three honorary doctorates.
