Prof. Damian Borth

Prof. Damian Borth is Director of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of St. Gallen, where he holds a professorship in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His research focuses on large-scale machine learning and the analysis of multi-modal data streams to enable trustworthy and accountable applications of deep neural networks. Previously, he was the founding director of the Deep Learning Competence Center at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence in Kaiserslautern and Principal Investigator of the NVIDIA AI Lab at DFKI. His work has received several awards, including recognition at NVIDIA GTC Europe, the ACM ICMR Best Paper Award and the McKinsey Business Technology Award. Prof. Borth serves on multiple boards and advisory committees in the fields of data science and AI. He conducted postdoctoral research at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley and earned his PhD from the University of Kaiserslautern and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, including a visiting research stay at Columbia University.
