Mo Ibrahim

Speaker at the St. Gallen Symposium

Dr. Mo Ibrahim is the Founder and Chair of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, which he established in 2006 to strengthen good governance and exceptional leadership across the African continent. He also serves as the Founding Chairman of Satya Capital Limited, a private investment firm focused primarily on Africa, and is the Co-founder and Co-chair of the Africa Europe Foundation. Prior to establishing the Foundation, he built a distinguished business career, founding Mobile Systems International in 1989, a world-leading cellular consulting and software provider, and later launching Celtel International in 1998, one of Africa’s pioneering mobile telecommunications companies. Dr Ibrahim has received numerous honorary degrees and fellowships from leading universities, including Oxford University, Imperial College London and the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a PhD from the University of Birmingham in mobile communications.
