Eva Umlauf

Eva Umlauf, born on December 19, 1942, in the labor camp Nováky in Slovakia, is one of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust and a significant eyewitness to history. In November 1944, she was deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp together with her pregnant mother. Despite severe illness, she and her mother survived the inhumane conditions until the camp was liberated on January 27, 1945. After returning to Slovakia, Eva Umlauf studied medicine in Bratislava. In 1967, she moved to Munich, where she worked as a pediatrician and later as a psychotherapist. In 2016, she published her autobiography "The Number on Your Forearm Is Blue Like Your Eyes." She is actively involved in Holocaust remembrance and shares her story to educate future generations about the horrors of the Holocaust.
